Reconfiguring virtual machines

Limitations

  • You cannot change, detach, or delete the boot volume.
  • You can only attach and detach non-boot volumes.
  • You cannot modify previously added network interfaces.
  • You cannot attach or detach network interfaces to and from shelved VMs.
  • You cannot change the flavor for running and shelved VMs.

Prerequisites

To reconfigure a virtual machine

  1. Select a virtual machine.
  2. On the Overview tab, click the pencil icon next to a parameter you need to change.

To attach a volume to a virtual machine

  1. On the Compute > Storage > Volumes tab, click the ellipsis button next to an unused volume, and then click Attach in the context menu.
  2. In the Attach volume window, select the VM from the drop-down list, and then click Done.

To detach a volume from a virtual machine

  1. Click the ellipsis button next to the volume that is in use.
  2. If the VM is not running, click Detach.
  3. If the VM is running, you can only click Force detach to immediately detach the volume.

    There is a risk of data loss.
